Reading Pa September 16 Trooper Timothy Kelleher a member of Troop C state constabulary was stabbed to death while pursuing two Italian assailants who had attacked Bertha Bernhart 26. His body was found along the Schuylkill river after being carried 200 yards and thrown over a 25 foot embankment. Kelleher 30 native of Dublin served in the Boer War and the Philippines and enlisted from Pittsburgh. He is the first state police officer to die by a criminal hand.
