James Newberry 89 veteran of three wars dies in Hampton Home
James Newberry formerly of Houlihan yserra dies at the National Military Home in Hampton Virginia on September 9 at age eighty nine. Born in 1706 at Chadds Ford he lived much of his life in the town and served in the Cumberland Blues in the War of 1812 under General Winfield Scott. He fought at Lands’ Lane in 1814 and served in the Mexican War with Highlander under Colonel Geary. He later re enlisted as a Pennsylvanian teamster and served until honorable discharge after the war.
