EPA signals approval for clean air plan across 12 states
The EPA indicated it will approve a regional plan by 12 Eastern states including Maryland to curb auto pollution and allow electric car sales mandates. The plan, from the Ozone Transport Association, seeks California style emissions standards and must still undergo a final ruling. Automakers oppose a 2 percent electric-car mandate, urging instead broader adoption of cleaner cars across all states.
