Israel Syria clash looms in Bekaa amid heavy strikes

Israeli command said a SAM-9 battery was destroyed and troops returned home. Syria reported wounded soldiers and damaged guns as a new round of clashes followed a July cease-fire violation. The attack prompted concerns from U.S. State Department and pressurized efforts by Morris Draper and Philip Habib to broker peace and secure foreign troop pullout.
