Baltimore Maryland September 14 The case centers on Patrick McManus an inmate serving a two year term after a Chicago man Michael J Healy forged a check and blamed McManus Healy later said McManus was innocent and asked Governor Warfield to review the case McManus preferred privacy and later shortened term for good behavior despite the accusation and confession by Healy.

Sailors Ordered Away from Havana Zinc

Washington reports that American sailors from the cruiser Denver were landed at Havana for protection of American lives and property and ordered to return except a small legation guard. Commander Colwell cited no intent to aid Cuban or insurgent governments, noting possible dispatch of vessels only if rioting occurred. The move follows a Sleeper cable explaining the aim was safeguarding Americans.

Returned to Their Ship After Havana Landing

The 120 sailors from the cruiser Denver have returned to their ship in Havana. Only a small legation guard remains in the city, as curiosity about the sailors grows but most residents see no intervention. State Police Acquitted in Allentown Riot Shooting Trial

In Allentown Pennsylvania on September 14 the state police sergeant H P Hont and private Thomas Metkraptz were acquitted of shooting Harry F. Winkle during the June 26 riot. The jury charged the county with costs. another rioter Charles Gulespie was not pursued.
