Optimistic U S economy seen growing through 1997
Economists from NABE project 1996 GDP up 2.3 percent and 1997 at 2.3 percent, with faster overall growth and easing inflation. They foresee modest rate hikes, higher long rates restraining housing, offset by strong consumer spending and rising exports. Risks include entitlement spending but recession odds remain low.
