Revival Tent Collapse Injures Fifty in Amarillo Storm
An estimated 50 persons were injured when a giant revival tent collapsed during a hail and rain storm at an Oral Roberts faith healing meeting in Amarillo Texas. One person was in critical condition, Mrs Tom Hataway of Sunray suffered shock and chest injuries. Eyewitnesses said a gust lifted the $22,000 tent and poles before they collapsed onto about 7000 in attendance.

A Baltimore Washington Boulevard crash snapped a pole and cut electric power to Shirley Leppo, a 17 year old infantile paralysis patient in an iron lung. Emergency crews restored operation after an emergency line was laid to her home. Her mother, Mrs. O W Leppo, alerted police and gas company staff. Shirley had been in the lung nine years and the outage lasted about 40 minutes without affecting her. In Boston, Robert Best 54 year old ex newsman and WWII propagandist traitor was reported in fair condition after a cerebral hemorrhage.

Spirit of St Louis plows into troop train kills many
The Spirit of St Louis, a Pennsylvania Railroad passenger train, crashed into a rear section of a Pennsylvania National Guard troop train near Coshocton at about 3 am. The collision killed 20 to 25 soldiers, many from Battery B of the 178th Field Artillery, Wilkes-Barre area, and injured 20 to 75 others.
