Taneytown youth drowns in Potomac
A 12 year old Taneytown boy who could not swim drowned in the Potomac River near Sandy Hook as two companions watched. Divers recovered Luke W. Smith at 6 25 p m after swift currents pulled him under water while he fished with two other youths. Rescue personnel responded at 12 35 p m. This was the third Potomac drowning in Washington County this year.
