County leaders clash over transfer tax vs impact fee hike
Walkersville Burgess John L Thompson Jr opposes the county plan to replace a transfer tax with a $5,000 rise in the impact fee to fund school construction. He argues the fee should climb from 2,000 to 7,000, tied to developing pupil capacity, while county officials cite authority to set higher fees and study results. COG sessions and upcoming hearings outline October decisions on the legislative package.
