No Slash In State Funds Amid County Commission Talk
Maryland county officials heard assurances from Mrs. Japet L. Hoffman that the Northrop Committee will likely cut state fund distributions by 20 percent to subdivisions and push for centralized statewide assessments while allowing local tax rate setting for sale values. The panel also seeks a fairer road funds distribution, noting inequities from growth in metropolitan counties and misallocated income tax forms. A shore protection plea followed, warning erosion has swallowed 30,000 acres in the last century.
