State Prize Co A aims to recruit for prize trip
Enlisted men of Company A fifth Infantry Maryland National Guard will begin a two month recruitment contest on National Guard Day September 26 to enlist fifty new members and compete for a state prize including an airplane trip to Washington and attendance at the Army Navy game. Captain J A Cutsail said the unit now has fifty seven men and must reach sixty percent of its 183 authorized strength. The state winner will tour Washington with other state winners, visit the White House, meet officials including Eisenhower, and attend the Army Navy game in Philadelphia November 29. Eligible recruits include ages 17 to 35 and training will cover basic private and specialty roles including radio, Browning rifle, cooks, squad readers, and e gun experts. veterans may be listed in wartime rank if vacancies exist.
