Cash Register Stolen From Gas Station Recovered Near Emmitsburg
A cash register stolen from Allen Fitzgerald's gas station on the Gettysburg road near Emmitsburg was recovered Thursday afternoon by Corporal Arthur B Snyder of the Gettysburg state police sub-station. Albert Hoffmann of Aspers found it in Opossum Creek and reported it after initial broadcast. the register was water damaged with about 46 to 8 dollars missing. Bud Shorb, the night clerk at Fitzgerald's, was robbed at pistol point earlier on August 28, while seven 24 cent slot machines were also taken in the incident. The slot machine has not been recovered.

Deutschland Commander Dies at 66 in Gnadau Germany
Captain Paul Koenig, 66, commander of the German submarine Deutschland, famed for two 1916 Atlantic crossings to Baltimore and New London, died today. He was celebrated in Germany and honored by leaders, pensioned in 1932 from North German Lloyd.

Body Identified Of Youth Found On Railroad Tracks
The body of a 16 year old boy found on the Baltimore and Ohio tracks between Woodbine and Morgans Station in Carroll county was identified as Lester Myers of Hanover Pennsylvania. He had left home August 5 with two companions and traveled through the West sending letters from Texas Mexico California and other regions. His last letter from Kansas City said he had been treated for severe sand burns and hoped to return home soon.

Judge William S Kenyon Dies After Five Week Illness
Judge William S Kenyon of the U S Circuit Court of Appeals Eighth District died at his summer home at age 44 after a five week illness. A former senator from Iowa he resigned in 1922 to join the bench and had declined cabinet posts and a Navy Secretary appointment. His career included leadership in prohibition and anti racketeering issues and a key Teapot Dome dissent. He was born June 10 1869 in Etna Mills Iowa and educated at Grinnell College and the Iowa College of Law.

Decide Monday Whether to Return Hart to State
Chicago, Sept 9 AP report that Assistant State's Attorney J Bernard Wells urged Cook County to return Jack Hart to Maryland custody. Wells cited Maryland’s strong claim since Hart escaped from a Maryland penitentiary and has a murder sentence to finish there. Hart, also known as George Red Kelly, was arrested in Cicero after a shooting and held to the Cook County grand jury on three assault charges. State's Attorney Courtney said he would decide Monday whether to drop prosecution here. The forecast calls for variable week weather with warmer conditions and a cooling trend by Friday.
