Frederick County Eyes Standard Auditing for Grants
Frederick County school officials push for a uniform auditing process amid concerns that state grant audit rules are not clear. The board approved a $20,800 audit of more than $1 million in last year’s grants, funded partly from grant money after an initial $15,000 estimate. Alfred Thackston urged state guidance to ensure equal analysis of audit proposals across counties while noting the faster pace of Frederick County’s review. The board also discussed continuing ice cream sales under existing terms pending bid details for a new county contract.
