An eight year old Washington girl, Martha Ann Combs, died at 1 40 PM Sunday from a fractured skull after a Route 40 crash near Washington. Her father Edger A Combs suffered serious burns, and her mother Delores Wood Combs a broken neck. both hospitalized. Also injured were Jesse Brown and Edith M Zlanka in a multi car collision. Funeral plans and survivors listed.

A 21 year old Frederick colored man was shot to death in a Hagers town alley early Labor Day morning. A suspect traced to Chambersburg Pa was interrogated by State Attorney John Holliday and local police. An unidentified companion of Charles Wesley Doll Whiten is detained as a material witness. Eyler on scene reported a lights-out getaway car and a bullet wound victim later pronounced dead at Washington County Hospital. A Baltimore druggist, Stanley S. Taub, was fined 90 dollars after magistrate Marshall A. Levin found his conduct bizarre for forcing an ammonia swab into a 9 year old boy named Stephen Colander. The boy testified he and two friends asked for 3D comic books and Taub then pursued them with a cotton swab. the hospital report noted an excoriation of tongue and lower lip. Taub claimed he only aimed to scare them away from the store.
