He is survived by his mother, widow Mary Gray, two daughters, a son in the Army Dental Corps, a sister and two brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Baker Chapel Western Maryland College with burial in Mountain View Cemetery Union Bridge.
Rep Emanuel Celler says the Justice Department regards Tass reporters as agents of a foreign power not necessarily correspondents. He cites an unnamed official who called Tass writers registered agents, though the department says no official opinion has been issued. Celler plans a House bill to bar Tass reporters from the press gallery as retaliation for William Qatis’ espionage case.

Soviet East and Allied West Berlin reached a truce in a 30 hour intra city toll dispute over road taxes. East Berlin kept the toll and promised to stop seizing West Berlin vehicles. West Berlin pledged to repay seized vehicles. Impounded West Berlin cars and trucks were released as police reinforcements withdrew.
