Prohibition enforcement bill passes Senate without record vote
The Senate approved the wartime prohibition measure in a voice vote and sent it to conference. A house amendment adding private stock penalties for personal use was retained, while mandatory fines and jail sentences for violators were not adopted. Senator Curtis urged mandatory penalties to deter liquor operators.
