The 43rd Thurmont and Emmitsburg Community Show runs Friday to Sunday at Catoctin High School with more than 2500 farm and garden, livestock, quilt, machinery and commercial displays. Highlights include Ag in the Classroom trailer tours, a Rocky Ridge Tire Company tribute, opening ceremonies at 7:30 p.m., a beaked goods auction, and various exhibitions from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Clear Spring High School hosts the 22nd Clear Spring Community Show over Sept 10–11 with free admission. Events include an all you can eat spaghetti supper, baked goods auction, yard sale, turtle races, pancake breakfast, car wash, children's games, and stage performances by the show choir and The Morn ing Star Singers. Proceeds benefit local athletic teams. advance tickets are $6, $7 at the door.
