President McKinley Shot in Buffalo at Pan-American Expo

An assassin named Leon Czolgosz shot President William McKinley during a public reception at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo. The President survived initial wounds, underwent surgery, and was moved to Milburn residence as police and guards secured the area. Czolgosz, an avowed anarchist from Cleveland, confessed to the act, citing Emma Goldman’s teachings as influence.
