License Fight Looms Over Brunswick Carnival Benefit
Brunswick firemen may have to pay a $100 weekly license for a carnival show benefitting the Volunteer Fire Department despite claims it is a charitable event. State’s Attorney Aaron K. Anders ruled the license must be paid, and Judges Urner and Worthington concurred, noting no court discretion to waive the fee. The contract showed the fire company signed to cover all license costs, lights, and related expenses, making no exemption likely.
