Schmoke proposes reassignment to cool Baltimore department dispute
Mayor Kurt Schmoke urged moving Col. Ronald Daniel to the Mayor's Coordinating Council on Criminal Justice to defuse a long running dispute with Police Commissioner Thomas Frazier over alleged bias. Daniel's lawyers seek a restraining order and injunction to block moves, claiming a demotion. Schmoke backed Frazier, saying he will stay as mayor and Daniel is out of line for calling Frazier racist.
