Telethon Posts 42 Million As LA SEGAS Raises Funds
The 24th Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon raised 42,209,727 in cash and pledges from about 100 million corporations, plus 36,228,846 from the hour’s sponsors. The event highlighted stories of muscular dystrophy victims and families, drawing a total to 126,524,210 since 1966. Mr Lewis opened Sunday noting advances against 40 neuromuscular diseases as poignant appeals moved viewers and donors.
