Sharpsburg EMS loses ALS certification after investigation
A Washington County ambulance service, Sharpsburg Volunteer Fire Company, was stripped of its advanced life support designation Tuesday night by the Mid-Maryland EMS Council. The decertification followed findings that the company lacked cardiac rescue technicans to provide ALS. County borrows filtration plant for Lake Linganore
Frederick County officials borrowed a portable water filtration plant from Civil Defense in Cumberland to aid the Lake Linganore system for four to five weeks. The setup filters about 60 gallons per minute and will be in place by Saturday to restore residents to near normal water service after a series of leaks left 3,700 acres of development without water for days. The system, used previously for Woodsboro, will run at Ballenger Creek with filtration materials provided, and officials plan to seek county purchase of a similar unit for future shortages.
