Basilio Favored To Top Aragon At Wrigley Field

Basilio, former world middleweight and welterweight champ from Chittenango New York, was the favorite to beat Art Aragon in a 12 round bout at Wrigley Field telecast by Navona Broadcasting. The bout aims for a later title shot versus Sugar Ray Robinson. Aragon, though underdog, is expected to force a hard battle as Basilio presses for a win and the chance at another title run. Lew Burdette named NL player of the month with 19 votes, Banks 10, Aaron 7. Burdette posted a 1.90 ERA in August over eight starts, beating strong foes as Milwaukee led the league.
