Chicago reports a surge in export demand lifting wheat prices by six cents from Thursday. Trading ended with gains of five cents. December wheat settled at 1.23 and 1.30 for other contracts, marking the highest level since the European war began.
A federal grand jury returned thirty two indictments against Washington commission merchants and produce dealers. They are accused of fixing prices daily on food stuffs by ballots or verbal agreements to inflate costs under the Sherman act. Bail was arranged for court appearance. no allied nations named.
