West German campaigner seeks East German leader over daughters
Jutta Gallus, a Munich area resident, chained herself to a fence and interrupted a chancellor speech while campaigning to free her two daughters Beate and Claudia from East Germany. She plans to seek Erich Honecker during his Munich visit as officials note thousands pursue similar family reunifications amid tense talks. Beate is 14 and Claudia 16. Gallus spent 21 months in East German custody after an abortive 1982 escape attempt.
