Frederick County Public Schools will install video cameras on 45 buses to deter vandalism and violence. Transportation chief Richard Wandres says cameras will help show obvious incidents though not all misconduct may be captured. Some buses will carry black boxes with or without cameras and rotation will vary across routes.
A Swissair MD 11 crashed off Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia killing 229 aboard. Debris and bodies found as coast guard and fishing boats comb the turbulent sea. Flight 111 had departed Kennedy at 8:17 p.m. bound for Geneva with 215 passengers and 14 crew. End.

Regina Harris, an 18-year resident and former Guardian Angels member, faces eviction after a midnight disturbance near her apartment at 133 Pennsylvania Ave. Police presence was reported as she checked on her two daughters during the incident last March 22.
Michael Robert Silverman, 20, of Myersville, pleaded guilty in Frederick County Circuit Court to homicide by motor vehicle while intoxicated and failure to stay in a single lane. His car struck a tractor-trailer on I-70 near Md 17 on October 14, 1995, killing Bryce Robert Lewis, 19, of Station Road, and Jason Steven Deleon Wise, 21, of Countryside Court.
