Lieutenant Spanseller to serve in regular Navy
Lieutenant Harling E Spanseller of Pennsylvania, formerly of Frederick, transferred from the Naval Reserves to the regular Navy with Presidential and Senate approval. A 1941 graduate of Shippensburg State Teachers College, he enlisted in 1941, served on a minesweeper in the Atlantic, trained Chinese naval personnel, and held multiple supply and personnel posts in Cape May, Coco Solo, and the Canal Zone before being assigned as senior grade lieutenant in the Navy supply corps at Bayonne New Jersey.
