The Francis Scott Key Post of the American Legion will meet at Post Commander Philip R Winebrener’s home at 7 o clock to plan the next Tuesday meeting September 9. Delegates will be elected to the state convention and efforts outlined to organize posts in Frederick county towns including Brunswick Thurmont Emmitsburg Walkersville Woodsboro Middletown Myersville and New Market. Membership questions and transfer rules discussed to welcome rural residents and veterans.

Ham Kills Child in Shenandoah Family Tragedy
In Shenandoah Pennsylvania on September 2 the five year old Leo Slotrick died and seven family members were left critically ill after eating pressed ham. The entire family fell ill at breakfast and a stomach pump saved several others. Part of the ham was sent to Philadelphia for analysis.
