Tony Carola and Guiseppe Zenopa, both about 13, died after being shocked on a steel tower carrying Niagara Falls power to a steel plant. Current shutoff was delayed, leaving the bodies suspended for nearly three hours with blue flames visible to thousands.
Denver report says W. B. Felker a wealthy Denver man and E. V. Casey died in a 50 mile race at Overland Park. Casey was with Phil Kirk in the Jack Rabbit when thrown from the car on a turn. Casey’s skull was crushed. Felker was killed on the 20th lap when a tire failed and the car crashed into the fence, striking a lamp post.
Rome police arrest anarchist Profjetti on charges of threatening Cardinal Merry del Val during the August 16 demonstration in Marino Rome. Projets companions made vain attempts to rescue him from authorities.
In Coatesville on September 3 a 12 year old boy Charles Wallace son of Henry Wallace of Thorndale was accidentally shot and killed when his mother who had gone to fetch a shotgun to check its load pulled the trigger as she started out.
A. W. Smith a 70 year old Trenton businessman reports his marriage has failed after 20 years as Ada deserted him for the third time in as many months. He notes she was a teenager at the time of their wedding and that he was a few years older.
Georges Cassidy, a Lyndhurst, New Jersey officer, was shot and killed while attempting to arrest two burglars who robbed a store. One burglar killed himself in a swamp as a mob pursued, the other fled toward the river before being shot dead by the crowd.
Harry Ewan keeps a fine black horse noted for bad habits. The beast avidly chews tobacco and drinks beer or whisky when near hotels. It pulls pails dry and resists movement past inns, causing embarrassment especially with ladies in the carriage. The horse even paused before church on a Sunday seeking a drink.
In Somerville N I Richard Stryker, 53, killed his father John C. Stryker, a wealthy farmer, then attempted suicide in jail by slitting his throat with a penknife. The attacker, recently returned after years away, was said to have pressed his father for money before the shooting.
Five boys aged 11 to 13 are jailed in New Brunswick for the murder of Joseph Chilkinsky. Names listed include George Holsworth Joseph Lout Joseph Erhardt John Bartow and Charles Harris. Erhardt has been jailed six times in two years amid public calls for punishment after Chilkinsky was beaten kicked and trampled to death near a synagogue. Elliott Shepard Hurt In Auto Race. Shepard of New York while speeding over the fifth circuit in the automobile race plunged into the river at Monte Chian breaking his collarbone and injuring other parts. His chauffeur suffered facial cuts and bruises. Their condition not considered serious. U. S. Cruiser Squadron Sighted. Honolulu Sept. 3 The United States cruiser squadron bound for here from the Orient has been sighted. It includes the cruisers West Virginia Maryland and Pennsylvania and Colorado. A Meadow Creek Montana miner Bishop C Hooper was found alive after being believed dead.
