Sheriff impounds pickup in hit and run probe

Md 355 bridge closure backs up I-270 traffic

Maryland State Police reported the Md 355 bridge in Frederick County was damaged by a crane and closed for eight to 10 days after a truck exceeding height limits struck overhead beams. Motorists were diverted to I 270 and Md 80 as back ups formed, with no injuries reported and John Mills, 60, of Clear Spring charged for height violation.

Mount community urged to embrace openness at Marys College

Hit-and-run kills 22 year old in Frederick a.m. on Old Frederick Road

Investigators said Alexander Folger of Liberty Road Frederick was walking after a party when struck in the early hours of August 22 on Old Frederick Road. His body was found at 5 26 a.m. by a passerby. Questions would need to be asked of the owner about timing and vehicle damage.

Butterbaugh gets 5 months in accident death of friend

West Virginia man Mark Sheldon Butterbaugh 35 of Snenandean junction was convicted of homicide by motor vehicle while intoxicated and leaving the scene in the January 8 1993 wreck on Knoxville Road that killed Gerald Ronnie Parks 35 of Monrovia. He received five months in jail as part of a binding plea deal amid criticism from relatives over the sentence and unsupervised probation.
