Black Panthers Plan Parade Rally Despite Police Action
In Philadelphia the Black Panthers vow to hold a national convention this weekend despite police raids on Panther centers. Police Chief Frank Rizzo tightens security, declaring officers ready with 12 hour shifts after shootings that wounded three raiders. Panthers say they will meet in streets if needed and name Temple University as host for a Revolutionary People's Constitutional Convention with many activist groups attending. Governor Shafer opposes violence but refuses to cancel.
