Edwin Frederick Nikirk Sr. 83, a famed Frederick County defense attorney and former State's Attorney, died Aug. 31 at his Frederick home. Born Sept. 16, 1916, he earned a law degree in 1938 and served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He led county prosecutions, practiced privately, and held many roles in bar associations and community groups. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, children including Edwin F. Nikirk I and Karen, a daughter-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements in Frederick with services Sept. 5 at Evangelical Lutheran Church. Memorials to Evangelical Lutheran Church.
