All Hallow Eve described as a night of pranks by youths with dead animals bricks and pans placed on doors and signs misplaced by tradesmen. Older folks held social gatherings with games and fortune tests while Burns noted old Scottish customs.
A bill introduced in the Vermont Legislature would authorize execution by electricity for murderers. Other regional items note Liberty cornet band planning new instruments, Union Bridge Bank opening with George P. Buckey as director, and early election activity in Union Bridge. Also reported are a fatal panther attack near Huttsvill e West Virginia, a White House incident with a self proclaimed silent candidate from Texas, and various local crimes and accidents across states.
