Health clinic building spared for community use
Brunswick health department building on East Potomac Street will not be demolished after the clinic’s closing. Frederick County commissioners approved a one year joint use deal with Brunswick, allowing WIC voucher distribution every other month and occasional flu clinics, while Brunswick can use the space for town activities. Ownership stays with the county for now, with upgrades under ADA totaling about $18,000 due by 1995.

Bay Health Improves After Cool Dry Summer
Federal officials say Chesapeake Bay is healthier than since 1984 due to cooler drier weather. Oxygen levels in deep waters rose to the highest since testing began eight years ago, attributed to reduced Susquehanna River flow lowering nutrient input and delaying algae growth.

Policy limits CIP projects shifting to operating budget
Commissioners reviewed policies Thursday to limit CIP projects by absorbing smaller ones under the operating budget. A $50,000 cutoff mirrors other counties, while timelines under 20 years would exclude projects from CIP. School officials cautioned against overrestricting CIP definitions and funding dependencies.
