Mount Airy votes on 500000 water tank bond issue

Mount Airy residents will decide in a November 4 referendum whether to authorize a 500000 dollar general obligation bond for two water storage tanks. The plan includes a 300000 gallon elevated tank on North Main Street and a 200000 gallon ground level tank near Prospect Road. The town council and residents debate need, cost, and future growth as a 10 page study questions necessity while developers may share costs through a tank charge. The town has 509 registered voters after recent additions and removals.
