In Bainbridge Georgia on October 30 a mob of about 300 men pulled Gus Goodman two black men from the jail and hanged him near the river outskirts after he shot Sheriff Sherry Stegall while the sheriff tried to arrest him for the murder of a colored woman. A special train was sent for a physician who declared the sheriff beyond recovery, and the mob then seized the jail keys, dragged Goodman out, and shot him repeatedly.

Six minor officials of the Pittsburg and Westmoreland Coal company perished when they entered Hazel Kirk Mine No 1 at Hazel Kirk Pennsylvania to check a burning section.
