County reports FY97 revenue progress in first quarter

Frederick County's quarterly FY1997 report shows $102 million collected of $183 million projected. Property taxes lead with over $96 million collected, about 99 percent of the budgeted amount, since full payments are due by Sept 30 with July 31 discounts. Income taxes total over $1.6 million, about 3 percent of the budget, and Browning notes income tax revenue is hard to predict due to slower growth and bank mergers reducing high paying jobs. The county expects most income from state sources January through July as Sneadner cautions a state tax cut would not reduce the county share.
