Mrs. Sarah Ann Tobery of 705 East South Street died early today at Frederick Memorial Hospital from head injuries suffered in a Sunday evening Route 40 collision near New Market. Four others were treated for injuries and a manslaughter charge by automobile was being prepared.

VFW Seeks 300000 New Members In Drive
New York report says Veterans of Foreign Wars aims to enroll 300000 recruits by June 30 next year. The drive follows a loss of more than 1 million members since 1946, leaving about 1.2 million. Merton B. Tice of Mitchell S D, national judge advocate, warns the group will lose revenue and prestige if membership dips below 1 million. A four man panel led by Tice is touring major cities to organize the effort. Delegates from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and the District of Columbia attended yesterday’s planning session.

Fire damages seven room tenant house on farm near Poolesville
Fire damaged a seven room tenant house on the Harry Brody farm near Daw sonville about 4 000 dollars. The Gaithersburg and Upper Montgomery fire companies responded after neighbors alerted firemen about 12 15 a.m. The blaze started in the heating plant room in the basement and spread upward. several rooms and half the roof were damaged. Firefighters battled the flames about an hour and a half. The Bohn family tenants were awakened by smoke. telephone was out of service. Captain L R Younkins of Gaithersburg rescue squad attributed the fire to a defect in the heating plant. The home sits about 12 miles from Gaithersburg on Route 28 in Poolesville district.

The remains of Pfc. Burgess Green, colored, who was killed in Korea last April 29, arrived in Frederick today. He was 18 and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Burgess Green of Doubs. The body rests at 24 West All Saints street. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 2 PM at Pleasant View church with Rev. I. P. Blackman officiating. Interment will be at Point of Rocks colored cemetery. Military honors will be given by William P. Larkin Post No. 112, American Legion. Funeral director C. E. Hicks II assisted with arrangements.
