Flood waters on the Potomac rose to about 23 feet at Harpers Ferry and 25 feet at Point of Rocks with subsidence underway. Residents moved belongings to higher ground as rail and road disruptions occurred. Monocacy flood receded, no road blocks reported, and local bridges remained high and dry as authorities prepared for further declines.

Original Portrait Of Thomas Johnson Family Comes To Library
A portrait of Thomas Johnson first governor of Maryland with his wife and three children was placed in the C. Burr Artz Library this morning. It had been in the Maryland Historical Society in Baltimore since 1896 and was returned to the city after the new library opened. The pieces came from Mrs. Ann Grahame Ross, great granddaughter of Johnson, per her 1896 will, and were deposited with the Maryland Historical Society until the library could care for them. Also delivered were other original papers bequeathed by Mrs. Ross.

Henry A. Dawson Sr., 83, former president of the Northwestern Stockmen's Association, died after a two week illness at his Rockville home. He was father to Walter W. Acquittal on False Pretense Charge In Circuit Court
Acquittal returned for Moses Saltzman a Washington garage mechanic who faced a false pretense charge after a $10 check cashed Feb 26 at the Central Restaurant with a 54 cent bank balance. Cumberland flood losses estimated at $50,000
Harold W. Smith of the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce put the Potomac river flood cost at about $50,000, covering stock moves and property damage. Western Maryland Railroad to restore service Sunday after tracks washed out. trains rerouted by B&O elsewhere as water flooded the area. The river crest reached 25.4 feet and receded within 26 hours.
