Local resident appeals drunken driving conviction here
After a guilty verdict in Peoples Court Magistrate Edward J. Smith urged appealing to a higher court. Millard T. Lease of the city was convicted of drunken driving and speeding on West South street last April 24 and fined 150 for drunken driving and 10 for speeding. His attorney E Austin James noted an appeal to the Circuit Court. Testimony showed Lease admitted two bottles of beer prior to arrest. his wife and another resident testified he was not drunk. A doctor said Lease might react nervously to excitement due to low blood pressure.
