In Thurmont, incumbent Murray C. Miller and Harry O. Miller were elected commissioners for two year terms. Final vote totals were Harry O. Miller 240, Murray C. Miller 192, Albert L. New Glasphalt Paving Built From Used Glass in Fullerton
In Fullerton California a 600 foot street of glasphalt uses 12 parts broken glass, six parts stone dust, one part asphalt and half part lime. The road is funded by federal research and glass recycling funds, with 300 tons of crushed glass in three inch paving and a five year guarantee from developers.

Two Share Nobel Prize In Physics
STOCKHOLM AP The 1970 Nobel Prize in physics was awarded jointly to Hannes Alfven and Louis Neel. Alfven's wife refused to wake him at 3:35 a.m. in La Jolla, saying it was too early. Neel was at a Besancon restaurant when informed. The chemistry prize went to Luis F Leloir in Buenos Aires.

Passengers Escape Fire On Pan Am 747 At Heathrow
A Pan American World Airways 747 arriving from Los Angeles evacuated after the inner port engine burst into flames on the ground at Heathrow. Explosion Injures Two at Harmony Grove Mill
An explosion this morning at the old mill in Harmony Grove injured two people, one seriously. The blast occurred about 10:30 a.m. Transportation to Frederick Memorial Hospital was provided by United Ambulance. Investigating officers are Sgt. Thomas Bosley and Trooper James W. Hagg of the Maryland State Police.

Ex Wills Register Succumbs in Frederick
Harry Davis Radcliff a longtime Frederick resident and former Register of Wills died Monday at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born February 9 1892 in Milford Delaware he owned a Wilmington bakery before moving to Frederick in 1927. He joined the Register of Wills staff in 1937 served as deputy then as Register from 1946 to 1958. He supported the South End Baptist Church and held leading roles in several fraternal orders.
