Many Strikers Return To Jobs
New York workers resume service as bus and trolley systems reopen after the largest surface transit strike in city history. A rank and file group challenged CIO union leadership and urged a return to work, with 2 lines in full operation and 1 partially, easing the morning rush. About 8,500 drivers and workers walked out, halting seven privately owned systems and causing widespread disruption yesterday.
