Wounded Lt Griffin Informed Of Wounds By Parents
First Lieut. Joseph T. Griffin Jr was seriously wounded in Korea on October 17. His parents Mr and Mrs Joseph T Griffin of 114 West Third Street were notified by telegram from the Secretary of the Army. A letter dated October 20 from an Army Hospital in Tokyo said he is recovering as quickly as possible. Griffin, a West Point graduate, had previously received the Purple Heart after a September 26 wound near Yongchon with Company B 5th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division. He has been in Korea since February and his unit has seen action on the western front, with injuries on both occasions.

An automobile carrying six Adventist ministers from a Boston meeting overturned on Route 28 near Clinton New Jersey. Two clergy men were killed and four injured. Victims named include Rev. Jury Verdict For Coca Cola Bottling Company
A Circuit Court jury found in favor of Frederick Coca Cola Bottling Company in a suit by Benjamin Thomas who claimed a bottle contained glass. Three Die In Fallen Plane Near National Airport
A private plane crashed into the Potomac River near the National Airport killing two men and a woman aboard. The craft flipped as it neared landing, about 3,000 feet from the Virginia shore. Crash boats from Bolling Air Force Base recovered the bodies. the victims were not immediately identified. The Civil Aeronautics Administration said the plane was licensed to Thomas H. White of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. It had departed Youngstown, Ohio, for Washington this morning and was due at the airport at 10:15 a.m. The crash occurred at 10:10 a.m.

Fire started near the Knoxville to Weverton highway about 10 30 this morning perhaps from sparks from a railroad train or a discarded cigarette. Brunswick Volunteer Fire Department responded and by noon the blaze was under control confined to a small area near an old stone quarry.
