USHA project eyed for Frederick slum clearance plan

Charles McC Mathias of Frederick Housing Authority outlined a possible USHA slum clearance project here after a housing survey showed 38 percent of local homes substandard. Twelve sites were under review with decision by Washington authorities imminent. Public notices included local Kiwanians present and unrelated town events.

The Zonta Club met at Hotel Frederick with Miss Nora Wise presiding. Edward Holter spoke on Grange history from its post Civil War origin to its current influence in rural education, agriculture policy, and women’s rights, noting 30 state Granges and 3 thousand Maryland farmers members.
