Miss Kline Chosen For Virginia Concert
Miss Patricia Brice Kline daughter of Dr and Mrs A Talbott Brice a Richmond student singer has been chosen to join the Virginia College Choir of 120 students from 15 colleges for a concert November 1 at Mosque Theater. Guest conductor Dr Helen M Hosmer and accompanist Mrs Dorothy B Bailey will lead the choral clinic sponsored by state education groups. Kline will perform Chopin Polonaise Op 26 No 1 in a Sunday recital.

Lovely Lane Pastor to Speak at Hood College Vespers
Rev Dr Kenneth R Rose of Lovely Lane Methodist Church Baltimore will speak at Hood College vespers Sunday at 6 50 in Coffman Chapel. Bach cantatas will be sung by Peter Flanders choir director and William Sprigg organist will perform two Bach pieces for prelude and offertory. The service features Bach preludes and chorales and the cantata Nun komm. The event highlights Hood College musical tradition and Rev Dr Rose as the mother church’s pastor.

Cold windy dry spell hits region with cooler nights
The Associated Press reports cooler windy and dry weather dominates most areas while rains diminish. A cold front pushes east toward the Atlantic, with temperatures dropping to the 30s and 40s in many spots and 60s only in the far south. Homecoming events at Catawba College in Salisbury face cancellations as regions from the Great Lakes to the southern coasts feel the chill, with central areas around zero in places.

Ground broken for National Radio Astronomy Observatory at Green Bank
Ground has been broken at Green Bank West Virginia population 106 for the new five million dollar National Radio Astronomy Observatory. The observatory is being established by Associated Universities Inc under contract with the National Science Foundation. Hood College and Franklin and Marshall College announce a combined choral program at Riverside Church in New York City on February 2. The Hood Choir will join Franklin and Marshall on January Lith. Directors Peter Flanders and William Sprigg lead the joint venture, rehearsing February 2 before a Sunday afternoon performance featuring Faure Cantique de Jean Racine and Flor Peeters Te Deum. It marks their first joint concert in three years.
