Feeling Of Uneasiness Big Political Factor In East
A broad sense of job and economic insecurity dominates East Coast politics a week before the elections. Democrats count on it for a potential landslide, while Republicans push the line that conditions were worse before the Korean War and urge voters to give them more time. Eisenhower campaigns, and governors, senators, and representatives across New York, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maryland, Delaware face tight contests shaped by farm policy, segregation debates, and shifting loyalties.
