Chase Deal Passes House Amid Outcry Over Merritt Bailout
On opening day of the session the House of Delegates approves Chase and Merritt related measures. The move allows Chase to reopen Chesapeake S&L and Friendship S&L as branch banks, grants Klein immunity, and would free about $500 million for 80?000 depositors by mid November. Six members oppose though Frederick delegates largely support.
