Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Eugene Lawson of Urbana on the birth of their son on October 13. Mrs Lawson is the former Pegery Baughman of Dickerson. UMC VFD ladies marching unit won another first prize in the Silver Spring parade on October 12, marking four straight wins. Eugene Hurd Jr visited Bainbridge with his parents, Eugene Hurd Sr of Vienna Virginia Donald Roberson and son Bruce and Carol Sue White of Dickerson. John Kenneth Roberson left October 13 to join the U S Air Force with basic training in Geneva New York. Visit in New Jersey this week with Mrs Floyd Conrad are Mrs Roland Roberson and children. Teenage Dance Draws Hundreds at Staley Park
About 290 teenagers attended the dance at Staley Park fieldhouse on Wednesday night. Carl Ann, Molesworth and Leo Brandenburg won prizes. Chaperones included Mr and Mrs Homer Brooks of the Optimists and Optimists clubs, with Miss Susan Pfieffer contributing the prize. The prior week saw 275 attendees and winners James Moberly and Joan Esworthy. A Halloween dance with a prize for the loudest color outfit will be held nearby Wednesday.
