Oakes Murder Case Reaches Drama in Bahamas Trial
Alfred De Marigny, accused son in law of Sir Harry Oakes, faced dramatic cross examination in Nassau as prosecutors pressed doubt on key witness Harold G Christie about the July slaying. Christie testified of finding Oakes slain and set afire after a night at Westbourne. Mrs Newell Kelly, witness and wife of the Nassau business manager, described encounters with De Marigny and J H Anderson on return from Westbury cottage, with De Marigny acting theatrically as the trial continued.
