Spirited Fight Across Border Near San Jose Skirmish
American troops and Mexican forces clashed for forty five minutes near San Jose in the Big Bend country. A detachment of the Sixth Cavalry and Texas National Guard Cavalry Squadron fought in skirmish formation along the Rio Grande between Presidio and Rudense. Lieutenant Cudington led the Texas unit and returned to Rudense after the engagement with no confirmed American casualties.
